co-creating AI systems with diverse communities.

inspired by nature. aligned with indigenous principles.

Artificial intelligence (ai) systems can perpetuate discrimination, so we research and implement ethical design and use of ai instead.

Discrimination can occur through technical, such as coding or training datasets, and non-technical systemic causes like unconscious biases held by design teams.

We mitigate risks related to social and economic inequalities by contributing to policy (e.g. via the United Nations working group on AI) and by researching and implementing AI governance and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion best practices through advisory and delivery services.

What we do

Create safe and inclusive spaces and design for trust and cultural interoperability.

Think beyond technical requirements, to include social, emotional and organizational requirements.

Expand the AI design and development team to include minority communities, especially women, girls and indigenous peoples.

Arrow pointing right

sometimes ai is not the answer.

Sometimes, using AI can be like taking a sword to an onion when a knife would do. Just stupid. And probably expensive. And maybe dangerous.

We believe that ethical design respects the Earth system and the humans that depend upon it. If you don’t need AI to solve your problem, we will help you find a better solution.
